How to Bet Teasers and Prop Bets When Wagering on Sports
Today we look into the question many novice sports bettors want to know: How to Bet Sports. We examine prop and teaser betting today.
A teaser is a joining of between two and ten football or basketball wagers where you alter the spreads of points, or totals in your favor in a trade for a smaller payout. When your teaser includes a point spread, you can decrease the spread for the favorite or, conversely, increase the spread for the underdog. On totals it increase the under and decrease the over. Much like a parlay, in order to win the bet, all wagers must win.
Spreads and totals can be teased between 5 and 7 points in football.5, or 7 points.
In betting basketball pointspread and totals teasers, you may move the line between 4 and 5 points.5, and 5 points.
Props, or proposition bets, are single wagers placed on outcomes that are not directly related to the final score of an event. Proposition bets include, but are not limited to, politics, sporting events, and various other topics. e.g., How many field goals will be made? Who will win the next election?. Odds (either moneyline or fractional format will do) are listed for all potential outcomes.
A Field entry is common in a proposition bet. This catch-all division, is intended for any challenger not particularly listed in the prop who’s competing in the act. An example is on a prop for a PGA event, it might list odds for the best of thirty players. For example, Tiger Woods may be listed at 1 to 1 and Phil Mickelson listed at 5 to 1. All players without individual odds posted on PGA events are considered to have “field” odds. For wagering purposes, the field wins if any player in the field prevails.
Players in a 1- or 2-player prop must enter the game for wagers to have action. In a prop with at least 3 players, all wagers have betting action even without the player playing.
